05/2012 – Swarmy Apiary

This swarm was first spotted about 5:00 PM on Saturday, May 5th, but Steve and Greg were both celebrating Independence Day with our amigos to the south so were unavailable to catch it until Sunday morning.  Fortunately, the girls stayed put and the weather was good over night with a low temp of only 71F.   The cluster was about 25′ above ground on a hackberry limb.  It took three bumps to get them all, but they are now the proud residents of hive #15 at Honey Sun Apiaries.  It has been a busy week!
